La Risonanza

Founded by Fabio Bonizzoni in 1995 as a vocal and instrumental group, La Risonanza is now a chamber orchestra on period intruments. It has a flexible instrumentation depending upon the repertoire performed and it joins sometimes to guest choirs for performance of larger works.

The ensemble particularly focuses his attention on music in Italian style composed between the end of the 17th and the first half of the18th Century.

La Risonanza’s recording career has started in 1996 with a CD completely devoted to Girolamo Frescobaldi. Subsequently have appeared CDs with the “Missa Non sine quare” of Johann Caspar Kerll (awarded “CHOC” by Le Monde de la Musique), Barbara Strozzi and Luigi Rossi cantatas, Giuseppe Sammartini, Michel Corrette and Franz Joseph Haydn organ concertos.

From 2002 La Risonanza is recording for Spanish label Glossa and with this label it has achieved the complete recording of the Handel Italian cantatas with instruments. The first CD devoted to this project and dedicated to the “Cantate per il Cardinal Pamphili” has been awarded the “Stanley Sadie Handel Recording Prize 2007”, an international award for the best Handel's recording of the year.

Also the 6th volume, “Clori, Tirsi e Fileno”, has been awarded the “Stanley Sadie Handel Recording Prize 2010” and the last volume, "Apollo e Dafne", has been prize-winning of the Gramophone Award 2011 for Baroque Vocal Music.

The group regularly performs in the main European venues and festivals (Festival of Utrecht, Quincena de San Sebastian, Festival de Cuenca and Festival de Santander, Saint Michel en Thiérache, Arsenal, Ambronay, Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Società del Quartetto of Milan...)

La Risonanza is supported in France by the Conseil général de l'Aisne and the Ministry of Culture and Communication (DRAC de Picardie), within the frame of its artistic and pedagogic activities at the Festival de l'Abbaye de Saint-Michel en Thiérache and in the Aisne region. La Risonanza is also supported by Foundation Fondiaria SAI.

From 2011 to 2013 La Risonanza is “Ensemble en Résidence” at the Fondation Royamount, for which the group is developping a project of research and performance. In the same period, the group will be working for the Accademia Filarmonica Romana on a three year project about Arcangelo Corelli.
