Fabio Bonizzoni
Fabio Bonizzoni is one of the leading Italian harpsichordists and organists of his generation.
Graduated in organ, organ composition and harpsichord cum laude, he studied afterwards under Ton Koopman being his only student graduating both in baroque organ and as a harpsichord soloist.
After having played for several years with some of the most important orchestras specializing in early music (Amsterdam Baroque, Le Concert des Nations, Europa Galante), from 2004 he exclusively devotes himself to his activities as soloist and director, in particular of his own orchestra “La Risonanza”, and it is with La Risonanza that he is regularly giving concerts in the main European festivals and concert halls.
Furthermore, he is harpsichord professor at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague (Holland) and in Italy at the Conservatory of Trapani; he is founder and president of the “Associazione Hendel”, a society devoted to the studies of Handel’s music in Italy and as well director of the “Atelier départemental de musique ancienne” of the French region ”Aisne”.
As a soloist and with La Risonanza he has recorded more than 20 CDs awarded several prizes including Stanley Sadie Handel Prize in 2007 and in 2010, Deutsche Schallplatten Preis, Choc du Monde de la Musique, FFFF of Télérama, CD of the month for Amadeus, Eccezionale by Scherzo, Gramphone Editor’s Choice. His last releases as a solist are devoted to the Goldberg Variations and to the Art of Fugue by J.S. Bach.
With La Risonanza he has just completed the project of recording the complete Italian Cantatas with instruments by G.F. Handel, and in 2010 he has started a new project on the genre of the Serenata.
His activity is also enriched by some commitments as guest conductor; in particular in 2011 he has conducted the ballet “L’altro Casanova” at Teatro alla Scala in Milano.
